BEFORE YOU APPLY

Do you accommodate 2 and 3 year students and graduates?
CSH accommodates students of all ages, at any stage of their studies.

Can I view the accommodation before moving in?
Yes, by prior appointment with your Student Accommodation Team. Please note that it might not be possible to show you your allocated/chosen room. In which case you will be shown a similar one.

Can I choose who I live with?
Yes, you need to provide details of people you wish to live with on your application and similarly they will need to put your name on their application when they apply so that we can link your applications.

Can I request to move into a flat which is single sex only?
Yes, you can. You need to stipulate on your application that you require single sex accommodation and CSH will endeavour to fulfill your request, but cannot guarantee this.

How big is the bedroom?
Room sizes can vary, an example for each room size can be found on the webpage relating to your preferred site.

Arrival Preparation

What items do I need to bring with me?
Students are required to bring their own bedding, towels, coat hangers, cooking utensils (including cutlery and crockery), irons, cleaning and washing products, dish clothes, tea towels, food etc.).

What equipment is available in the kitchen?
Each kitchen has a cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, (some kitchens also have a kettle), an ironing board (Iron not supplied), mop and bucket, dust pan and brush, kitchen bin, vacuum (some sites have to collect the vacuum from reception).

Are there any items I shouldn’t bring with me?
Items which are not permitted include: candles, incense sticks, tea lights, oil heaters, fairy lights, chip fryers, laser pens, also large items of furniture or equipment are not allowed in Halls of Residence for health and safety reasons.

Can I bring my pet?
Sadly, pets are not permitted in CSH’s student accommodation, and that includes ‘Bob’ your Goldfish. Sorry. If you sign up for a free Skype account you could always have a little quality time with your pet over video chat. (Obviously, you’re going to have to get someone to help your pet with that, unless they are staggeringly clever!)

When should I arrive?
You can check into your accommodation from 10.00 am – 4.30 pm on the start date printed on your tenancy agreement. If you need to check-in before this date, you must make arrangements with the individual Student Accommodation Teams by calling 0870 600 4777.

Check-in times for early and late tenancy start dates are conducted within normal office hours, Monday – Friday by the Student Accommodation Team. CSH does not check-in students outside normal office hours, unless advanced prior arrangements have been made with the individual Student Accommodation Teams.

If you do arrive outside normal office hours and no one is available, you will have to find your own alternative accommodation for the evening. Your property will be open for check-in on the day your tenancy starts (as stated on your tenancy agreement) and where appropriate the subsequent weekend. Near the time, you will be sent move in information by your Student Accommodation Team via email.

On your commencement date you may experience some check-in delays, unfortunately some people take longer than others and may have more questions to ask at check-in times. You can help us by ensuring that your online application is complete, you have returned your guarantors document and set up your online payment plan before your arrival. If all this information is returned in advance you can fast track and pick up your Welcome Pack, Keys and start your student living experience.

Money Matters

What payment arrangements do you offer?
You can pay in 1, 3, 4, 7, or 11 installments depending on your chosen contract length.
